What makes this combination of items perfect for an interview look?

The handbag is key. It allows me to put everything I need in there–my cell phone, tablet and my wallet. I’m ready to take on anything!

What’s the most important thing to remember when you’re selecting your outfit for an interview?

Dress for the interview, according to the corporate environment Look of the Week - Interview - J Francis Black Leatherette Handbagyou’re applying for. For example, if you’re applying at an entertainment company you can dress more body than if you were applying for a corporate position. You want to look the part, so dress environmentally appropriate.

What’s your secret to feeling and looking confident in whatever you wear?

Mine is being aware of the trends, but to only choose the ones that I feel comfortable in and that match my personal style.

If you had to choose between wearing heels or flats to an interview, which would you choose and why?
Flats because they’re comfortable. Plus, you can really glam them up since there are so many choices of flats to choose from. Flats are very true to who I am, which is comfortable and stylish!

What makes this combination of items perfect for an interview look?

This look is classic and sensible. A skinny belt can create the feeling of being put together.

What’s the most important thing to remember when you’re selecting your outfit for an interview?

Select something YOU feel good in. It doesn’t matter what’s on trend, what your friends are wearing, or what you feel you should be wearing. Wear what fits your body type, coloring and more importantly, what you feel confident in. Confidence is definitely key when it comes to interviewing.

The best way to instantly feel and look more confident is standing or sitting up tall. Studies show that doing this can even change your mental state and make you a more confident person. Plus, everyone looks slimmer with better posture.

If you had to choose between wearing heels or flats to an interview, which would you choose and why?

I would choose sensible heels ONLY if they fit well. You don’t want to be uncomfortable or unbalanced when you’re trying to make a great first impression. If you’re nervous at all about wearing heels, play it safe and wear flats. Your interviewer probably won’t remember whether you wore flats or heels, but THEY WILL remember if you hobbled into the interview.
