Garnet is the birthstone of January, which is perfect because all month, the LC will be featuring a very special garnet called Orissa Rhodolite Garnet. Continue reading to get an exclusive preview of this gorgeous stone!
Orissa Rhodolite Garnet is named after its source, which is in the State of Orissa on the Bay of Bengal in eastern India. This stone is particularly special because it is a unique pyrope-alamandine member of the garnet family.
This unique combination gives it an unusually high refractive index, which ultimately gives the gemstone exceptional brilliance. Orissa Rhodolite Garnet varies from pale rose-red with hints of purple to deep grape purples with secondary tones of intense rose-red. The really astonishing thing about this stone is that it isn’t enhanced in any way. The rich color is the exact color of the rough stone removed from the mine.
The LC was fortunate enough to be one of the very first companies to discover this exceptional gemstone in Orissa. Our long relationship with the mine owners has allowed the LC to offer it at a great price!
When it comes to colors, the possibilities are endless. Garnets are a set of closely related minerals that form a group, resulting in the vast array of colors. Red garnets have a long history, but modern gem buyers can pick from a rich palette of garnet colors: greens, oranges, pinkish oranges, deeply saturated purplish reds and even some blues.
Now that you’re better acquainted with this unique gemstone, check out the LC’s amazing collection of the best Orissa Rhodolite Garnet around!
