November means that the holidays are at our doorstep. If you’re like most people, this means there will be a lot of traveling in your near future. Planning a trip can be stressful, especially when you’re trying to remember a million other things during this hectic season. We have put together a guide to help you plan your outfits for your holiday travels.

To make things easy, here is everything you should put in your suitcase to get several looks:

Now that you know what you’re packing, we’ll tell you why you should pack it!

Look 1: Casual Fun with the Family

This outfit screams cozy. Heavy knits are very on trend this season, so pack a comfy, thick cardigan for your trip. It’s versatile because you can wear buttoned up, or you could wear it with layers. These classy metallic flats are also trending this season. For more on metallics, be sure to check out our guide.
Pack Smart Tip: If you’re staying with friends or family, ask them if you could use some of their toiletries like shampoo and lotion. Not having to pack your own will free up a lot of space.
Look 2: Holiday Party

Dresses are perfect for traveling because it’s one article of clothing that covers your top and bottom. This metallic belt adds flair to your look and it will complement your shape. Booties are chic and super functional. They keep your toesies warm and the wedged heel makes them a comfier option. This elegant shoulder bag is a must for any holiday party. Without it, where would you store your candy canes?
Pack Smart Tip: Rolling your clothes, as opposed to folding them or bunching them up, will make your items more compact. This means room for all of your other travel essentials.
Look 3: Last Minute Shopping Trip

Let’s face it, you will probably forget at least one person on your list this season and will be scrambling at the last minute to find a gift (sorry, Uncle Fred). You might as well look good while shopping. This outfit shows a lot of layering love, and the elegant red scarf adds the perfect dash of holiday cheer. You can’t forget a purse when you’re running errands. This crocodile print handbag is stylish, and it’s heavy duty enough for your day excursion.
Pack Smart Tip: If you do have to take toiletries, avoid little surprises by wrapping them in sealed bags. You don’t want to get to your destination and have nothing to wear because your clothes were ruined by lotion.
Look 4: A Night Out

Visiting family back home isn’t complete until you catch up with all of your hometown friends. This ensemble is perfect for a night out. Tuck your plain T-shirt into a cute skirt. Add pizzazz by wearing a statement necklace. This gorgeous citrine necklace ought to do the trick. Did you know citrine is the birthstone of November? If you recognize the clutch, it’s because it’s the same one from look two! This nifty shoulder baghas removable straps, making it perfect for any trip.
Pack Smart Tip: Put your shoes in the suitcase first. Then you can fill the spaces around (or even inside) them with smaller items like undies or your favorite scarf.
We have illustrated four looks for you, but you could create so many more. Layering is perfect for the fall and winter. Take advantage of this by making different combinations and designing a look for any event. For example, the black leggings could also be worn with your dress or skirt, especially if the weather is extra chilly. Have fun with it and get creative!
Pack Smart Tip: Take one last look at your packed suitcase—then take something out. You probably don’t need five belts or eight pairs of shoes. After all, this isn’t Santa’s never-ending bag!
Now that the hard part of figuring out what to wear is over, you can relax and enjoy your trip—it is your vacation after all! Tune in with our hosts, Kelsey and Jae, today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT to chat about your holiday travels!
