It is that time of year again. The Christmas music is playing on the radio, decorating is in full swing, and the shopping centers are swarming with frantic shoppers.
For me, this can be an overwhelming time. A time meant to share with loved ones can turn into a stress-filled frenzy.
Ways to Combat Holiday Stress
Make a list! If you take the time to write down all the people you need to buy gifts for, and what you are going to get for them, it will make your life so much easier. Not only will you know exactly where you need to go, but it will be less likely you accidentally miss someone if you make your list ahead of time.
Be sure to delegate tasks when possible, especially if you will be hosting. Have each person be responsible for a side or dessert. It will take a lot of pressure off you to prepare enough food for a large group.
Take a deep breath. It’s easy to forget what the holiday season is all about amidst the craziness. While it seems like a lot, it will all be over in a blink of an eye. So, remember to take a breath and enjoy those around you and what this holiday is truly about.
If you will be hosting family for the holidays or traveling to stay with family, be sure to carve out some time for yourself. Find a good book and sneak in a few chapters to decompress or wake up early to have a cup of coffee or tea to yourself before all the craziness of the day begins.
A major way I combat my stress is to do my shopping online. It is a great way to avoid the crowds and stress of malls. Many places will tell you the last day to receive your gifts in time for the holidays, but be sure to get started on this to ensure everything will be shipped.
Shop LC’s last day to ship in time for the holidays is December 17th. Shop online at Shop LC for all your holiday gifts this year and beat the crowds and the stress!
