Sure, we have Mother’s Day to celebrate Mom. But are we doing enough to help her the rest of the year? Many mothers need a break with summer ending and school back in session. National Lazy Mom’s Day is that day. It reminds us that moms need to get their rest too!
THE GREAT DIVIDE
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, on an average day, women do about twice the housework of men. Women spend about two hours and fifteen minutes on chores compared to only one hour and 25 minutes for men.
The survey shows that women spend more than twice as much time preparing food and drink and interior cleaning on an average day—over three times as much time doing laundry as men. Overall, 22 percent of men reported doing housework—such as cleaning or laundry—compared with 50 percent of women. Forty-three percent of men did food preparation or cleanup activities versus 70 percent of women.
Even during the pandemic, this gap in household responsibilities persisted. A study by the Pew Research Center showed that dynamics changed very little. Luckily, we can easily do more. Read on to learn how!

2. Order Out. Or, if there’s a budding chef at home, have them cook! Either way, leave the meal for another day and spoil yourself by ordering your favorite takeaway or enjoying a home-cooked meal. Why not try an easy 30-minute meal?
3. Take a Bath. Few things are as relaxing as a nice soak in the tub. Load it up with your favorite bubble bath or oils, and allow some time for destressing. Consider some new bath and body favorites while you’re at it!
