Happy New Year! A new year calls for a new look. As we say goodbye to the old trends of 2015, we give a warm welcome to the new trends of 2016 with our January Must-Haves. From pop-art to hippy inspired prints, 2016 looks as though it is a promising year for fashion. Since it is the new year, why not explore trends that may fall outside of your comfort zone? You never know when you may stumble upon a new style that suits you. Below, I have rounded up a few looks for you to test out this new year.
Essential Embellishments
Pop-art and bold embellishments are huge this Spring. You will see many handbags with 3-D floral appliques, and even handbags embellished with colorful pom-poms. Embellished handbags add a playful element to your ensemble. Personally, I am a huge fan of bold clutches with a mixture of gemstones and bead work.
Three Cheers for the Colors of the Year
Every year Pantone chooses the color of the year. This year, however, there are two colors that go hand in hand that were chosen to be the colors of the year. The colors Rose Quartz and Serenity offer both embracing rose tones and cool tranquil blues. Both colors work cohesively and play off each other in only the best ways, offering the feeling of peace and composure. I love the fact that both colors coordinate well with each other, and are easy colors to work into your current wardrobe. Personally, I am prone to wearing black, but carrying a Rose Quartz colored handbag would add a nice pop of color to my wardrobe. If you are timid about trying out these beautiful new colors, try playing with the colors of the year through your accessories first, then invest in clothing.
Break a Sweat
Every year I tend to make the same New Year’s resolution; eat healthy and work out more. I cannot say I always stick to it because my love for donuts and cookies is quite strong, but I always try my best to keep my resolution. However, sometimes we need a bit of inspiration to kick-start our fitness journey. What is better motivation than new workout gear?! I love buying new active wear, or a new gym bag to encourage me to hit the gym to show off my new goodies. I totally dig this yoga mat that has a very ethnic feel and look.
Bohemian Babe
It is no secret that bohemian inspired style is a must-do look for Spring 2016. Boho-chic looks with fringe and ethnic patterns have been a go-to style for the past few years. Now, with colors such as Rose Quartz and Serenity there is a soft look to the hippy inspired movement. I love the look of long fringe whether it is on a vest or on a handbag. It gives a very carefree feel, as well as a casual and laid back vibe.
Shine On
Glitter is my favorite color. That sounds crazy, but I love anything that sparkles. One of my favorite sayings is, “She leaves a little bit of sparkle everywhere she goes.” New Year’s Eve is the one holiday where everyone decks themselves out in glitter and gold. Although, you may think the sparkle ends after New Year’s Eve, come Spring 2016 metallics will be hotter than ever. You will see everything from metallic clothing, handbags, to even shoes for a casual everyday look. Sequin handbags and metallic bags are a great addition to your new shiny and bright wardrobe.
Dye For It
In homage of the hippy movement, tie dye is a big hit this coming spring. Instead of the typical floral prints, mix it up with fun, and trippy tie dye prints. Watercolor inspired scarves make for a killer look with a twist on the traditional tie dye print.
Styling tip: Choose a color from the scarf to use as your pop color. Wear a shirt the color you chose to be your pop color to coordinate it perfectly with your scarf.
There are various trends to try this new year! Make your resolution for 2016 to be bold and fearless when it comes to fashion. Take risks, and try wearing clothing and accessories outside of your comfort zone. Remember, confidence is key when testing out a new look. If you are confident, you will look flawless.
What new look are you going to test out during 2016?!
Happy New Year!
