Amazon Prime Day is upon us this July 12th. And, while it’s much to search for great Amazon deals, package theft is also at an all-time high.
There are some sobering statistics out there. According to a recent study by SafeHome.org, about 46-percent of Americans are most concerned about stolen packages when it comes to theft.
The study shows us some interesting details we should keep in mind.
- 48% of us avoid buying expensive things online due to fear of theft.
- 47% of use wind up filing a police report when theft does happen.
- 81% of us get a refund for our stolen packages, thankfully!
But with theft being a concern, what can we do? There are three things we can do right now to help mitigate package theft.
Security Cameras
If you can, consider installing a security camera. Many models will send a text alert when activity is detected around your home. They will also record anyone who might take packages.
Smart Doorbell
If cameras are too pricey, a smart doorbell might be a better option. This way, you can know who’s at your door – even when you’re not home! These cameras use motion sensors to alert you when a person approaches or leaves your door.
Alternate Dropoff Spots
If you’ve returned to the office (or never left), consider having parcels sent to your office. Since you’ll be there anyway, you can ensure that packages are safely delivered directly to you.
Or, maybe you can try a different approach to porch pirates (don’t try this at home – seriously!).
